Dramatic champagne silk gown with ivory French lace overlay and a v neckline. The design was based on Lisa Gowing’s Cecile dress, however Lisa designed custom elements for me, which included lace cap sleeves, some extra lace on the bust line (for extra ‘boob coverage’, and so you can see the beautiful scalloped edge of the lace), plus the dress includes a gorgeous custom v back, with an exposed lace scalloped edge.
The slimline skirt has sweeping train (also with scalloped lace edge that ties in with all of the other scalloped lace elements), and there is a bustle incorporated, so that you can hook the train up for dancing.
Note: the dress is listed as a size 10, but as I am slim-waisted, the top was cut more to a size 9. I would say that if you are normally a size 8 the dress would probably fit/could be taken in, or if you are a ‘small size 10′, then this dress is also good for you.
Having looked at many dresses before choosing this one, the things that set it apart from many others are:
1)The quality of the lace – I saw many inferior laces, which were not the french real deal
2)The structure of the dress – the dress comes with inbuilt bra cups (which takes the stress of finding the right bra out of the equation & increases your comfort on the day), and the whole thing is wonderfully structured, so it fits perfectly on your body.
3)The attention to detail – the satin covered buttons, the intricate lace edge etc speak for the quality of Lisa’s work
Straight away after the wedding the dress was dry cleaned and packaged by a dress preservation specialist, in order to keep it in pristine condition.
I also purchased a full length, two-tiered veil from Lisa Gowing, which is ivory (with the same stunning scalloped lace edge that matches the dress perfectly). You can purchase this with the dress for an additional $200 (Originally it cost $400).
The dress also comes with a matching ivory sash (which I didn’t end up wearing, but which will come included with the dress at no extra cost, should you wish to wear it). Plus this dress can be worn with a vintage jewel encrusted belt (which you would need purchase from Lisa Gowing). Personally I didn’t think I needed it, but if you are after that ‘extra sparkle’ its a great accessory.
I also used a simple satin ivory bag (which matches the dress) for keeping my makeup etc on the day – will throw this in for free should you want it!
Final words – LOVED wearing this very special dress/veil & had the most magical day – hopefully you will too. I am open to letting you try the dress on (to make sure it is right for you before buying).
